PhLUG Scifi's Corridorfest

Last Brickfast, the boys of PhLUG Scifi had a little building exercise called "Corridorfest". The purpose of which is to showcase each of the members' building techniques by building long, monotonous corridors. This can help determine whose style the SIG can incorporate in upcoming projects. One dilemma it currently faces is how its members tend to not adhere to a certain building standard. Hopefully, activities like this could address this issue resulting to more coherent builds in the future.

Flora And Mecha @ PhLUG's Brickfast

Howdy, folks! As promised, here's a quick look at the MOCs displayed at PhLUG Brick Stores' 5th anniversary. PhLUG's Team PMS came up with several plant builds that are really amazing. Lu Sim was also there with his latest mech creations. Also, make sure to check out the short video clip at the end of the entry. Let's get to it!

Happy 5th Anniversary, PhLUG Brick Stores!

Last weekend, PhLUG celebrated the fifth year anniversary of PhLUG Brick Stores. PBS, as it is often called, is PhLUG's way of helping the community meet its Lego needs via monthly meet-ups we call Brickfasts and through online brick shops as well. The local Lego community has thrived well over the past several years thanks to this set-up. Other Lego groups have used the same method in addressing the growing and varying needs of Lego fans here and I think PhLUG has contributed greatly to making this happen.

A Look At Messymaru's reFrame Version 3 Brick Mecha Kit

This post is long overdue and it's only now that I finally had the time to write it. Today, I'll be featuring Lu Sim a.k.a. Messymaru's reFrame Version 3 Brick Mecha Kit. I bought the kit from Lu at TOYCON PH 2016 and I'm really glad I got it! Take a look at one of the most complex sets I've ever built. Here goes!

MOC Post: Another Exosuit!

Howdy, folks! This will be a quick post. I've been pretty busy with my new job lately which is why I haven't had much time updating the blog these past couple of weeks. I'm also preparing for several small MOC projects for PhLUG Scifi and I've spent my spare time chopping my recent builds and sorting bricks. I'm sure things will be less hectic in the coming months. Anyway, today's entry will be featuring an old MOC I built several years ago. Check it out!

PinoyLUG's Brickroomz

One of the neat stuff I saw from last year's series of events was PinoyLUG's Brickroomz display. To ensure the participation of its members, PinoyLUG allotted two months worth of BXB. BXB is the group's monthly meet-up event where its members display their MOCs and also where sellers set-up shop in a brick market. Anyway, this will be a picture heavy post so enjoy! A lot of these rooms are pretty well made so make sure to take the time to enjoy each one.

Mechs @ Abrickadabra 2018

It must have been apparent in my recent posts that I'm so into mechs lately. Ever since I started building my own frame, I've consumed several references online for building tips. One of my favorite mech builders is Lu Sim, a.k.a. Messymaru,  who I previously featured as one of Nothing But Brick's Builders of the Month. Lu, together with PhLUG's resident talented mech builders displayed some of their best works at Abrickadabra 2018. I was fortunate enough to have a closer look at them. Check it out!

PinoyLUG @ TOYCON PH 2018

One of the things I always look out for during TOYCON PH is PinoyLUG's exhibit. PinoyLUG has consistently been part of TOYCON PH for several years now and has always represented the local Lego community at the con. I've always enjoyed their displays and I was lucky enough to take pictures. Check them out!

MOC Post: My Projects For PhLUG's Abrickadabra 2018

Hi, folks! As this entry's title suggests, today's MOC post will be a compilation of all my  projects for Abrickadabra 2018. My last entry shows the entirety of our dio at Abrickadabra. Basically, it's a joint military and civilian spaceport. It took me almost two months to finish my share of MOCs and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.  Here goes!

PhLUG SciFi's Hawking Spaceport @ Abrickadabra 2018

Hi, folks! For today's entry, I'll be featuring our group's dio at PhLUG's Abrickadabra 2018. I'm part of PhLUG SciFi, PhLUG's special interest group (SIG) for anything related to science fiction. Spaceships, starfighters, bases, vehicles. You name it, we'll try to build it. For this year's Abrickadabra, we tried building a spaceport. Check it out!

Nothing But Brick's Top 5 MOCs @ PhLUG's Abrickadabra 2018

Howdy, folks! May has been pretty busy for me and I had difficulty finding time to write for the blog. First, it was my last month at my old job which means I had to tie loose ends before heading off to my next venture. Second, I've been busy building for my LUG's major brick event, PhLUG's Abrickadabra 2018. As part of the Sci-fi SIG, I spent the past couple of months building for our dio. Lastly, I've been running errands for both the fambam and my new job. It was pretty tough juggling these things but I'm glad I got through them just fine. Anyway, apologies for the neglect.

Speaking of Abrickadabra, today's entry will be Nothing But Brick's Top 5 MOCs at the event. As always, the MOCs are presented in no particular order. These are the MOCs that really made my head turn more than once. On with the show!

Mech My Day!

I've been looking into a lot of mech builds lately simply because I'm also working on a mech project myself. Several weeks ago, I attended Brick Traders Club's Meet and Brick event at the Greenhills Promenade Hall and was lucky enough to stumble upon these awesome mech displays by local builders Lester De Jesus, Jude Vincent De Sales and Louie Granados. Check them out!

MOC Post: Exosuit Prototype

Hey, folks! Today's post will feature another MOC from several years ago. I've always known I've wanted to build mechs back then but I was also aware of how complicated it is so I decided to build a prototype for an exosuit. You gotta start somewhere, right?

The Waifu!

It was my wife's birthday last month but we weren't able to celebrate it on the day itself since she was traveling abroad. I already got her her gift before she left which is why I decided to make her something cool that I could still 'give' her on her special day. I've always wanted to make her a sigfig so here she is in minifig form!

Nothing But Brick's April Minifig Of The Month - Freddie Mercury

Queen has got to be one of the most influential bands in the history of rock. Coincidentally, it's also one of my favorite musical acts of all my time. Each member of the group is a helluva musician in his own right, but it's lead vocalist, Freddie Mercury who took musicianship and showmanship to the next level.

Brothers In Arms

The Twins unsuspectingly found themselves in a bind. An unexpected detour brought them to what was supposed to be the ruins of an ancient temple, where they found themselves surrounded by a lounge of lizardfolks. Armed with their swords and short bows, the duo managed to survive the initial onslaught of what seemed to be an endless swarm.

Mech Frame Updates With A Little Help From LDD

I'm really happy with how the first version of my mech frame turned out. I made it a point to properly document the build so I could easily improve the prototype and also lose the risk of forgetting how I built it. haha Believe me, it happens. Good thing, I still have a copy of the Lego Digital Designer (LDD) application in my laptop. Too bad, Lego no longer supports the app but you can still download it for free from Lego's website. Check out several versions of my mech frame!

MOC Post: Telesto, A Microscale Ship

I've been going through some of my old albums in Facebook and found several MOCs I've done two or three years ago. It was around the time I emerged from my dark ages and before I started Nothing But Brick. Sci-fi has been one of the many influences which drew me back to Lego. You see, I've always been a sucker for humongous spaceships and giant robots. Anyway, here's my attempt to build a micro scale ship. I present to you, the Telesto.

Building My Own Mech Frame!

I've always wanted to build my very own mech frame ever since I emerged from my dark ages. One of my goals back in 2015 was to build Lego mechs to compliment my army of minifig pilots. This has been my frustration since then. Initially, I thought this was an easy task but after doing some research online, I've come to think otherwise. After looking at the work of all the awesome builders from the web, I realized mech building is an art form. Not only that. Building the perfect Lego mech starts with the frame, which unfortunately, I had no idea how to make. Until recently.

The Drifter

Disclaimer: Hi, folks! This was a little something I wrote back in college. Special thanks to my good friend, Isay Roque for editing my work. She has helped me with my writing since then and I really learned a great deal of stuff from her. Check out her blog, Starting My Own Think Tank. Click here! Anyway, on with the show.

The setting sun slowly crept to the dark line of the horizon. It was a perfect orb that silver-lined the clouds that floated gracefully and endlessly. It dimly lit the orange sky as it gently touched the green patches that stretched across the land. Truly, it was a picture-perfect view, one that brings peace and contentment to the soul.

Nothing But Brick's March Minifig Of The Month - St. John Bosco

Hi, folks! I'm pleased to announce a new segment here on the blog: Minifig of the Month! In this segment, I'll be featuring one minifig from my collection of mixed and matched figs every month. Read on for this month's MOM!

It's been a while since I've mixed and matched and I terribly missed it. I've been doing it for almost a year now and there's always a personality I've wanted to recreate in Lego for the longest time so now, I finally decided to flesh him out.

Weekend Getaway! Building The TFA Millenium Falcon!

Happy New Year, folks! Apologies for the short break right at the beginning of the year. You see, I've been busy these past few weeks because my sisters, Maine and Dior, who both live overseas, are home and the family and I have been spending as much time as we can with them. They'll be flying back to their respective countries on the first week of February so we have to make the most out of their vacation. We're running out of time!
